Group chilling

Group lessons are some of the best ways to practice your English and get to know some new people.

I’ve gone through what seems like thousands of small group conversation courses, and they’re always a blast! Bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds, education and experience, we always have lively and interesting conversations.

My favourite was a group of science students at the university of Padua, who were looking to boost their ability to chat about high level topics in an intelligent, yet relatable, way. And my god, did we chat! We covered topics like climate change, mining, GMOs, medical advances, AI, and so much more. Coming from a science background myself, I found this course wonderful, especially since I got to see the motivation and intelligence of the scientists of the future.

In general, every conversation class starts with a little document or video, depending on how much new vocabulary might be needed for the class. Lower level groups (A1 and A2) are of course much more limited in their themes, but watching inexperienced people open up and become more confident in talking about something common like food or travel is a wonderful experience. Even the shiest people open up eventually!

With the higher groups (B2 and C1), we’re able to discuss classic topics like business, recipes, and psychology, and even dabble in some difficult topics like politics, science, and religion. All points of view are valid and respected, and we learn not only English but also debating and respect.

Due to lack of affordable meeting spaces, my classroom-based conversation classes are put on hold for now (although the online option is always available). When there is enough interest and some good weather, I also offer outdoor conversation options, such as walking groups and picnics in the colli.

Get in contact anytime to find out what conversation options are available!
