One of the craziest courses I’ve had to design was for a young professional that needed to get a Cambridge C1 (CAE) certificate for an amazing new job opportunity – he’d been accepted for the job with a promise to provide the certificate before onboarding started.
BUT… He thought getting a language certificate was an easy matter!
Alas, that’s not the case.
If you’re looking to get a Cambridge or IELTS certificate, just remember – it’s going to take you at LEAST 2 months, provided that your grammar and four major skills are up to scratch! That’s 2 months to just learn what they want you to do and how to get a good mark.
So what did we do? We worked, and worked HARD. This course was more intensive than I recommend for most people: four days a week with 2-4 hours per lesson. On top of that, he was doing homework – practice exams, listening exercises, and oh so much writing, writing, and more writing.
In the end he scraped by, getting a nice C1 certificare by the skin of his teeth!
All’s well that ends well, and lessons are learnt along the way.
